The Original Dogs Only Portrait Studio.

No Cats. No People. Just Dog Photography.

Initially launched to provide commercial photography support to pet product and lifestyle brands, the critically acclaimed dogs only photography studio, would soon go on to open its doors to the public and began accepting private pet portrait commissions in 2016.

These days the Puptrait Studio specializes primarily in creative dog portraiture. Best recognized for their signature use of newspaper hats and distinctive headshot angles, the Puptrait Studio dog portraits have become an increasingly common sight for many dog lovers – featured in numerous nationally advertised marketing campaigns, as well as decorating the walls of several boutique, hotel and restaurant chains throughout the country, and hanging in select contemporary art galleries.

When asked about the studio’s transition, dog photographer (puptrait.com) and Puptrait Studio owner, J.B. Shepard explained, “I’ve had people tell me that isn’t common for commercial photographers to shift towards private commissions – or even just to pivot towards art in general. And, I think it’s possible our studio might be the exception that proves that rule. At the end of the day, the central theme of our work – dogs – has remained the same. Our workflow and production processes have certainly evolved. But regardless of how our photos are used the only thing that really matters is that we capture the personality of the dog. And, that’s something we’ve always managed to do well.”

The Puptrait Studio is currently accepting private pet portrait commissions and commercial photos assignments at their Baltimore studio and on locations throughout all of Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware and Virginia. Studio hours are by appointment only. For availability and booking info please see the studio’s online scheduling calendar.

For commercial photography and reproduction licensing info please contact the studio directly.
