When do kittens open their eyes?
It can vary from animal to the next, but in most cases, kittens open their eyes when they reach the age of eight to twelve days. By the time two weeks have passed from their birth, they should have opened their eyes.

It can be difficult to tell whether one’s male and another’s female, especially since their genitalia are so small. This is why many pet owners often get the gender wrong. However, most male cats have somewhat visible testicles on the outside of their bodies, just under the tail, whereas that area is completely flat for females.
As the kittens age, their reproductive features become more obvious, so when they reach several months of age, you’ll be able to tell their gender with ease.

The number of kittens in a litter can vary, but some cats can have just one, whereas others can give birth to as many as twelve.
When can kittens leave their mom?
When they reach the age of at least two months, it’s safe to assume that kittens can be separated from their mothers. The longer you wait, the better, as the mom can also teach the kittens how to interact with the world around them.
When can kittens eat dry food?
Once one full month has passed since they were born, you can try to diversify their diet by including kibble into it, not just canned food varieties.

When the kittens get to 6 to 8 weeks of age, they will require 3 main vaccines – against Calicivirus, Panleukopenia (also known as cat distemper), and Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis. Use a cat nail trimmer for the purpose just to be on the safe side of things. Cut only the clear portion of the nail, where you do not see a vessel in the middle. If the kitten’s nails are darker in color, cut a small part, check the center of the nail, and once you see a dark spot (which would be the ending of a vessel), stop.

How to get rid of fleas on kittens?
Stick to your vet’s recommendation for this. Lots of flea medications, shampoos, and spot-on solutions are only suitable for adults, and they can be so toxic that they might put the kitten’s health in danger. Safe options include using a flea comb, giving the kittens a bath, or using spot-on solutions specifically made for your kitten’s weight and age.
